PORTRAITS Hugo Schaer (new video)

Portrait Painting 2014 – 2019 / Hugo Schaer / 7’21

“From 1995 to 2005 I created in Kyiv/Kiev my tile pictures, which were printed with wooden stamps in several layers on canvas. These tile prints serve, now many years later, as a background for my portrait painting. The horizontal and vertical lines of the tile grid form a coordinate system like the latitudes and longitudes of a map, in which I locate the portraits of my favourite painters, sculptors, musicians, writers….” (Hugo Schaer)

Since 2014 I have been producing my ceramic works here in collaboration with Tullio Mazzotti and Claudio Manfredi.

ART AND WINE

Art and Wine. Hugo Schaer

“I have been working with symbols in my artistic work for a long time. Over the years, it has developed its own vocabulary. I translate the history of your vineyard into my symbol language and thus, tell your story as an accessible, spatial experience. The forms used for the individual symbols are varied: wall paintings, concrete reliefs, steel objects, ceramics panels, projections, glass walls, engravings… In addition to supplying narrative, the symbols also have a decorative component and are intended as a counterpoint to the digital flow.” / Hugo Schaer, 2019

SYMBOLS – ART AND CONSTRUCTION

Symbols – Art and Construction

“Maybe you want to give your site a unique appearance and convey a message with an artistic accent?
I have been working with symbols in my artistic work for a long time. Over the years, it has developed ist own vocabulary which has evolved in such a way that it is constantly updated with new symbols.
I translate your themes into my symbol language and thus, tell your story as an accessible, spatial experience. My symbols always have stories related to the history and function of a place and thus leave traditions for the future visible as sustainable communication.
The forms used for the individual symbols are varied: wall paintings, concrete reliefs, steel objects, ceramics panels, projections, textile printing, engravings, graphics, etc.
In addition to supplying narrative, the symbols also have a decorative component and are intended as a counterpoint to the digital flow.”  (Hugo Schaer)

(Hugo Schaer)
